ORT SA Chairman and owner of Retail Plus Consultancy. Retail Plus Consultancy developed SME Workflow to address problems in adherence to operational structure. This manifests itself in low staff accountability, uninformed stakeholders and a bad customer experience.. There are many workflow solutions available but require large budgets and skilled staff support. SME Workflow is focused on addressing these issues while incorporating all the deal breaking enhancements that ensure effective usage. Retail Plus Consultancy is dedicated to assisting all businesses in maximisation of operational structure and IT application. It has guided many businesses in selection, implementation and configuration of IT systems. Ellis has been involved in business strategy (Mica Hardware founder member) operational structure and computer software development for many years.

Steve Zagey, ORT SA Trustee, ORT Jet Chairman and Executive Director at SoHo Properties, a property company focusing on the development of Social Housing Projects. Responsibilities include strategy, deal making, acquisitions and financing thereof, the full financial function and operations with respect to administration. Steve holds a Bcom Degree from the University of South Africa and MBA from Thames Valley University (UK). His financial knowledge and experiences in deal making, financial structuring and negotiating has been key to the success and growth of organisations.

Paul Winer

Paul Winer

Paul Winer is an Executive in ENSafrica’s Insolvency, Restructuring and Business Rescue department. He has acted for local and international banks, listed companies, liquidators and business rescue practitioners and corporate clients on business rescue matters, company liquidations and commercial disputes. Paul has advised on a number of high-profile corporate collapses and his expertise extends to banking litigation, informal and formal restructurings, fraud, cross-border litigation, and disputes relating to trade finance and banking transactions. He also provides advice to business rescue practitioners on the preparation of business rescue plans and to liquidators on schemes of arrangement. He has participated as a guest speaker at international and local insolvency conferences since 1993 and has lectured at several banks and universities. He is a non-practicing member of the South African Restructuring and Insolvency Practitioners Association.

Clive Butkow

Clive Butkow

Clive Butkow is Chief Executive Officer at Kalon Venture Partner, a disruptive digital technology Venture Capital Fund (VCC) located in Johannesburg. He sits on various boards of the VCC’s underlying companies including the chairman of many of the companies. Kalon has made 8 investments across various disciplines including; payments; property tech, loyalty, security, artificial intelligence; marketing tech and others. Besides his board role of the 8 investee companies, he is actively involved in fundraising, sales and other business building activities. He is further actively involved in the entrepreneur ecosystem in South Africa as well as looking for new tech companies to invest in.

Jonathan Shapiro

Jonathan Shapiro

Jonathan is a social entrepreneur with a passion for people and problem-solving and the CEO of the SAICC – South Africa Israel Chamber of Commerce.
Having graduated high school without a university entrance and no real direction, he soon got put to work in the family business, Lesco Manufacturing, cleaning the warehouse, packing boxes and rearranging the stalls until eventually, he was on the assembly line making products.
Years later, Jonathan is using his hands-on experience in the factories to drive his passion for people and business. Through developing strategic partnerships and interpersonal relationships, Jonathan is tackling South Africa’s unemployment problem at the grassroots level. Lesco has been proudly nominated for the ABSA Jewish Achiever Awards for unlisted companies and Jonathan for the Creative Counsel Young Jewish Entrepreneur Awards.
In 2016, LESCO was a runner-up in the FNB business innovation awards. He is also on the board members of Easterseals UCP.

Frank Davidson is a Non-Executive Director of various listed companies including INVICTA SOUTH AFRICA HOLDINGS. He is a Chartered Accountant, manages private equity investments and assists management in strategic direction. He has wealth management experience over 16 years and is a Non-Executive Director for 3 Listed companies. Frank is treasurer and executive member of a private school group, a member of YPO and now WPO and has work experience in diverse industries.
Roland Sassoon

Roland Sassoon

Roland Sassoon joined his father’s textile importing and wholesale business from school aged 17 in 1962. Due to the development of local textile mills, protected by huge tariff and import controls, to counter the effect of sanctions, their importing business went into decline, and they decided to transform it into a trade finance company. However, as he lacked the skills in finance, he enrolled for a CIS course and left the family business to gain experience with four large banks and finance companies and then rejoined the family company, which had changed its name from Sasstex to Sasfin, in 1973. He retired as CEO in 2018 to be succeeded by his son Michael. He is now a non-executive director of Sasfin, which is now a banking and financial services group, specialising in business finance and asset management.

Errol Hurwitz is a Chief Financial Officer, Business Coach and Strategist. He provides financial and business strategy consulting services to professional clients and companies. Services include business coaching, change management, financial management, forensic accounting. He previously held the position of COO of a multinational group of pharmaceutical companies having begun as financial manager of a subsidiary. He is a volunteer mentor for businesses, panel member and a finalist for Mentor of the Year at ORT Jet (Enterprise development NGO).

Gary Epstein is passionate about providing excellent service, focusing on strategic decision-making and practical business solutions. His expertise spans product and business development, sales and marketing, finance, operations management, strategic planning, and resource utilization. As an Entrepreneurship Mentor, he specializes in mentoring start-ups and growing businesses in sales, finance, operations, and marketing.

Gary has a proven track record of identifying new business opportunities, building relationships with executive partners, and developing effective market strategies. He excels in connecting with decision-makers to drive revenue growth and long-lasting partnerships. With strong management and communication skills, he has successfully led teams and operations to enhance corporate success and productivity.
